4/9/2000 LUSTERED TILE-MINIATURE BOXES
These tiles, mounted on sturdy wooden boxes, are individually drawn and glazed with a variety of carefully formulated ceramic mixtures containing gold, silver, bismuth and cobalt. They are then put through an exacting kiln-firing process which encourages iridescent "blooms" and glowing lusters. Most tiles are reglazed and refired several times to achieve depth, texture and rich vibrant colors. This special work represents years of research and experimentation into lost craft-techniques of ancient Persians, Egyptians and Turks. Every tile on the boxes are signed collector's pieces, no two identical.
